IFC Midnight Picks Up Retro Tinder Nightmare film, ‘Rent-A-Pal’

IFC Midnight has acquired the North American rights to the retro Tinder nightmare film, Rent-A-Pal, directed by Jon Stevenson. The film stars Brian Landis Folkins (Hoax), Wil Wheaton (Star Trek: The Next Generation TV series, Stand By Me 1986), Kathleen Brady (Breaking Bad TV series), and Amy Rutledge (Neighbor).

Synopsis:

Set in 1990, a lonely bachelor named David (Folkins) searches for an escape from the day-to-day drudgery of caring for his aging mother (Brady). While seeking a partner through a video dating service, he discovers a strange VHS tape called ?Rent-A-Pal.? Hosted by the charming and charismatic Andy (Wil Wheaton), the tape offers him much-needed company, compassion, and friendship. But Andy’s friendship comes at a cost, and David struggles desperately to afford the price of admission.

The film will be released in September of 2020.
