Hilary Duff to Play Title Role in ‘The Haunting of Sharon Tate’

We’ve recently learned that former Disney kid, Hilary Duff will be playing Sharon Tate in the upcoming film, The Haunting of Sharon Tate, which will be her first horror movie role.

The Twitter account, Hilary Duff News, posted the confirmation recently:

Her Instagram also has a picture of her with a fake pregnant belly:

The caption cut off but it said: “Not pregnant, just shooting a movie.”

The film is written by Daniel Farrands, who also wrote Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. According to the report, the film is about the ghost of Sharon Tate haunting the Oman house. The Oman house isn’t where she was killed. The house Tate was murdered in has since been demolished. The Oman house is a house on a nearby lot where there have been stories of her ghost haunting the property.

Overall Thoughts on The Haunting of Sharon Tate:

I’m not sure if it’s in very good taste to make a movie about a real-life pregnant woman who was brutally murdered, and turning it into a ghost story. Especially by the writer of Halloween: The Curse of Micheal Myers. Farrands also was a producer on Amityville: The Awakening, so we’ve already seen the lack of reverence he has for beloved horror properties.

I’m also not sure just how much we need another story about anything regarding Manson or his victims. We already have Quentin Tarantino’s Manson film in the works, and now another is in development starring former Dr. Who star Matt Smith. Maybe its just my opinion, but I think we can move on from Manson anything at any time now.

That said, we’ll keep you updated on new developments regarding this project. Hopefully, it won’t be as disrespectful as it sounds on the surface.
