Long Awaited Exploitation Film ‘High On The Hog’ Gets First Trailer

Sometimes in the indie film world, movies take a long time to get finished and released, due to varying circumstances. One of the latest, High On The Hog, has been over five years in the making. Looking at first trailer that was just released, I honestly think it was worth the wait.

High on the Hog is the latest film from Tony Wash from a script by Kevin Lockhart, Jeremy Silva, and Andy Golub. The film stars Sig Haig, Joe Estevez, Robert Z’Dar and Ellie Church.

From the press release:

Kevin Lockhart, writer and executive producer, will soon be releasing his first feature film High on the Hog, starring horror film icon Sid Haig (The Devil’s Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill: Vol 2). Directed by Tony Wash (It’s My Party and I’ll Die if I Want To), High on the Hog is slated to be released in late 2017.

A film with a pro-legalization message, High on the Hog is a grindhouse mystery thriller about a marijuana farmer and the lengths he will go to in order to protect his small town and his family. Sid Haig leads the cast as Big Daddy, the film’s protagonist marijuana farmer, alongside action icons Robert Z’Dar and Joe Estevez.

‘”It all started with an idea to make an action-packed film to tell the story of a marijuana farmer and his unconventional family, and evolved into the exploitation thrill-ride that is the final cut. We have an impeccable cast lead by Sid Haig, a knock-your-socks-off soundtrack, and a unique editing style that is sure to leave audiences wanting more from our independent film. The crew involved did an excellent job – this film was truly great group effort.” – Kevin Lockhart, Writer and Executive Producer

“This film is a really cool mix of sex, drugs, and rock and roll and I had a blast orchestrating the story on a visual level. On top of that, it was important for me to translate the core elements of the script: Family, commitment and freedom – so audiences can see that this isn’t just another gritty grindhouse flick. It contains heart, story, and characters you grow to love.” – Tony Wash, Director

“It really is one-of-a-kind, from the experimental editing schemes to the over-the-top, outlaw nature of its performances. You will be hard-pressed to find another movie that is as innovative, exhilarating, and kinetic as this one. High on the Hog is a balls-to-the-wall thrill ride from start to finish.” – B.A. “Ben” Lewandowski, Editor
