No, it certainly is not! This new Gremlin is not the big-eyed, fuzzy critter that Billy Peltzer (Zach Galligan) got as an early Christmas present from his dad. Nor is he the green, scaly, midnight snack munching hellion that’s currently raising hell in your washing machine. This little guy is much, much worse.
Bloody Disgusting introduced horror fans to this spider-legged flesh muncher just yesterday and already the trailer for Gremlin is attracting some deserved attention. The albino, arachnid-like critter certainly is an original looking monstrosity. The crate the little devil comes in looks like it came straight out of Pinhead’s toybox and the only way to get rid of it is to give it to someone you love – the ultimate regift. The official synopsis: A man receives a mysterious box containing a terrible secret, a creature that will kill everyone else in his family unless he passes it on to someone he loves to continue its never-ending circulation. He can’t destroy it. He can’t escape it. He can only give it to someone he loves before it’s too late. You might not want to invite this guy to your next birthday party.
Ryan Bellgardt (Army of Frankensteins 2013) both directed and supervised the visual effects for Gremlin. He also shared in the scriptwriting responsibilities with A Shot in the Dark’s (2014) Josh McKamie and Andy Swanson. The movie stars Adam Hampton (The Unusual Calling of Charlie Christmas 2012), Kristy K. Boone (Suedehead 2015), Chris Crane (Days That Shook the World 2004), Catcher Stair (The Butcher is Hungry 2016), Katie Burgess (Self-Delusion and Other Obstacles 2013), Mike Waugh (Army of Frankensteins 2013), and Caleb Milby (Bad Kids at Crestview Academy 2017).
Although there is no US release date set for this hair-raising Catch 22, we do have the trailer for Gremlin. Check it out below:
