Based on Aaron Mahnke’s eponymous, award-winning, critically-acclaimed podcast about true life scary stories, Lore the television series will be releasing exclusively for Amazon Prime Video this upcoming Friday, October 13th.
A short description of the show:
“Our fears have roots. Lore exposes the darker side of history, exploring the creatures, people, and places of our wildest nightmares.”
The official synopsis of Lore:
From an executive producer of The Walking Dead and the executive producer of The X-Files, this anthology series brings to life Aaron Mahnke’s Lore podcast and uncovers the real-life events that spawned our darkest nightmares. Blending dramatic scenes, animation, archive and narration, Lore reveals how our horror legends – such as vampires, werewolves and body snatchers – are rooted in truth.
The cast will vary with each episode, including Robert Patrick, Caroline Arapoglou, Mark Ashworth, John Byner and Matty Ferraro just to name a few. Some of the tales that will be told this season are about Robert the Doll, Dr. Walter Freeman, the father of the ice pick lobotomy and 19th century Ireland’s Michael Cleary, who believed his wife, Bridget, was replaced by a fairy called a changeling.
Here’s the official trailer.
Aaron Mahnke will also have a book releasing on October 10th titled The World of Lore: Monstrous Creatures, which is currently available for pre-order on Amazon right here. If you haven’t checked out the podcast yet, we at PopHorror highly recommend it. You may also find more info about Aaron Mahnke and Lore on his website.
