Sean Richards, Kevin R. Phipps, and Smoking Zombie Films are working to preserve Friday the 13th history. Their project is called Friday the 13th Part 3: The Memoriam Documentary and it is a tribute to both the movie and its late star Richard Brooker.
The documentary features cast interviews and footage from the Friday the 13th Part 3 set prior to its destruction.
Details From The Project’s Facebook Page @RememberingBrooker:
In April 2013, the Friday the 13th family suddenly lost Mr. Richard Brooker. Portraying Jason in Friday the 13th Part 3, he was the first individual to don the now iconic hockey mask. Richard was a terrific human being and a friend to all.
In addition, the Higgins Haven cabin used in the film was burned down by careless vagrants in 2006. These two events sparked Sean Richards into action to do something with the one of a kind on location video footage he shot from 2003 & 2005. It was the last footage and photography shot before the set’s demise in 2006.
The project has grown leaps and bounds over the past year & continues to bring on board various Friday the 13th alumni from Part 3 as well friends of Richard’s still working in the film industry today. Their interviews are pivotal in giving the backstory of the production of Part 3 as well as insight into the man Richard Brooker was.
The project’s roots started in Indiana, then onward to Arizona as well as in L.A. This documentary’s intentions are to preserve the memory of this movie and Richard Brooker. The project’s final goal is to support the Arizona & LA film communities as well as bringing more revenue for more jobs to the artistic talent to each of these respective areas.
The film is the brain child of Sean Richards & Kevin R. Phipps. Sean went on location to shoot photos and video footage in 2003 and 2005. He put the project on Indiegogo in 2014 and raised nearly $2000 to professionally produce the footage. The ultimate goal is to preserve the memory of the film and honor Richard Brooker.
Friday the 13th Part 3: The Memoriam Project’s producers include Sean Richards, Ruben Angelo, Joe Quintanilla, and Richard Begg. It features interviews with C.J. Graham, Paul Kratka, Tracie Savage, Larry Zerner, David Katims, Caroline Williams, Dick Wieand, Eileen Dietz, and Producer Eric Branden.
This sounds like a really cool project! Chris Higgins (Dana Kimmell) topped our ranking of Jason’s Final Girls, so you know we love us some Part 3. We’ll definitely be checking this out!
