Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019) was directed by André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe 2016 – read our review here, Troll Hunter 2010) from a script co-written by Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth 2006, The Shape of Water 2017 – read our review here), Dan and Kevin Hageman (Hotel Transylvania 2012, The LEGO Movie 2014), John August (Go 1999, Titan A.E. 2000) and Feast’s (2005 – read our review here) Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. The film stars Zoe Margaret Colletti (Annie 2014, Rubicon 2010), Michael Garza (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay 2014), Austin Zajur (Fist Fight 2017), and Dean Norris (Breaking Bad TV series). The man who breathes life into monsters, IT: Chapter 1’s Javier Botet (read our interview with him here), is in the film, too. It will be exciting to see what kind of movie creature the man who breathes life into monsters will bring to the screen.
