Fede Alvarez Confirms that a Sequel to ‘Don’t Breathe’ is Happening

One of the most talked about films of 2016 was Fede Alvarez’s Don’t Breathe. Although some didn’t care for it, many have gone as far as saying that it was the best film of the year. To those who loved it, you’ll be excited to know that a sequel to Don’t Breath is happening!

Although some may be wondering why they would make a part 2 to Don’t Breathe, it all boils down to the extended ending of the film. If you haven’t watched it, we highly recommend it because this ending plays out a little differently than the theatrical version and explains why a sequel is totally doable.

Fede Alvarez confirmed the sequel on May 9th via twitter:

He didn’t say much, but his words did confirm it. However, this isn’t completely brand spanking news because awhile back both Fede Alvarez and Sam Raimi talked with CinemeBlend about it and said this:

“Fede Alvarez: Right now, yeah, Don’t Breathe 2 is something we definitely want to do. The challenge obviously is — we just don’t want to do the same movie again, slap a “2” on it. We’ll feel so embarrassed if we do that. Our first reaction when they told us, ‘Do you want to do it?’ was like, ‘No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. That’s Hollywood! That’s the devil! We don’t want to make a sequel just because we can.’ But then we got an idea that we’re really excited about, and I won’t tell you what it is because it will spoil the whole thing.

Sam Raimi: It’s only the greatest idea for a sequel that I’ve ever heard! I’m not kidding!”

Nothing else has really been confirmed, but we look forward to seeing what they have up their sleeves. How do you guys feel about a sequel to Don’t Breathe? Let us know.
