[Exclusive] First Look at Mahal Brothers’ ‘Art of the Dead’

The brothers who brought us Bus Party to Hell (2017) are back! Mahal Empire granted PopHorror the first exclusive look at the trailer for their upcoming film, Art of the Dead. While the humorous cult horror angle of satanic desert dwellers from their first film was a fun ride, this new story looks like another type of primal horror altogether. Take a look for yourself below!

After purchasing seven paintings for his estate, Dylan Wilson (Lukas Hassel: The Black Room) has no idea what hellish temptation he has just brought into his home. Originating from a dark pact made between evil entities and the artists of the deadly paintings, each work of art represents one of the seven deadly sins. As mysterious, dark forces begin to emerge from each painting to threaten the lives of the Wilson family, it is up to Father Mendale (Robert Donavan: The Black Room) to free them from this unholy biblical curse.

Featuring Tara Reid (Bus Party to Hell, American Pie) and Richard Grieco (21 Jump Street TV series, 22 Jump Street), Art of the Dead is produced by Michael and Sonny Mahal as Mahal Empire with The Black Room’s Rolfe Kanefsky serving as co-writer and director. The highly anticipated second Mahal horror film will be promoted at American Film Market 2018 from October 31st to November 7th in Room 308. The Art of the Dead trailer will also be playing on all shuttle buses as well as lobby screens at AFM every hour. Although details have yet to be released, a red carpet premiere for the film is planned for the first week in January in Los Angeles, CA.

With an original plot and an enticingly dark story, we have been looking forward to this creepy new feature since first hearing of the film’s development. This first sneak peak at Art of the Dead has us that much more excited! You can be sure to read more upcoming details on this artistic display of horror as we bring them to you right here on PopHorror.
