I am so excited to announce this news to you guys! One of my very favorite comedy horror actor/writer/producers in the indie industry, Full Auto Films’ Chad Ridgely, the man behind the ghost hunting 6:66 PM (2017 – read our review here) and the holiday horror Massacre on Aisle 12 (2016 – read our review here), has just signed on to the upcoming horror comedy, Halloweed Night: Meet the Weedjies! Not only was he gracious enough to send PopHorror some never before seen pics from on set, but he also answered a few questions about the film to give you all a better idea of what you can expect from a film called Halloweed Night: Meet the Weedjies.

But first, let me get some of the preliminaries out of the way. Although you may not recognize the name Charles Band (read our interview with him here), I know you’ve heard of his projects, cheesy gems like Ghoulies, the Puppet Master franchise, the Evil Bong franchise and The Gingerdead Man franchise. Band and his Full Moon Features B-movie house are creating the Deadly Ten, an anthology series that starts with Halloweed Night: Meet the Weedjies! Band will produce the film, while Danny Draven (Reel Evil 2012, Danny Draven’s Masters of Terror TV series) will direct from a script written by Shane Bitterling (Puppet Master X: Axis Rising 2012, Beneath Loch Ness 2001).
Besides Ridgely, this Ghoulies-n-ganja trip stars Brett Hargrave (My Haunted House TV series), Denise Milfort (Dead On Arrival 2017), Yo Ying (Dead Bedrooms 2018), Johnny Lee (A Woman’s Nightmare 2018, Murder Made Me Famous: Unabomber 2018) and newcomer Emily Jobson.
Read our Q&A with Chad to find out more about this half-baked film.
PopHorror: What’s Halloweed Night: Meet the Weedjies about?
Chad Ridgely: Halloweed Night: Meet the Weedjies is a horror comedy about a group of party hungry stoners on a scavenger hunt gone awry. They accidentally release The Weedjies while playing a game on a ‘Weedjie’ board and have to fight to defeat them before the stroke of midnight, lest they all get sucked into the netherworld of the board. It takes place on Halloween Eve at a haunted hotel in Las Vegas, and is filled with an amazing cast of characters. The movie definitely has a “Ghoulies go to Vegas” vibe, and it’s great!
PopHorror: What role do you play?
Chad Ridgely: I play Gorilla, a guy in a gorilla suit that has captured a man in a cage. So my feet are the gorilla, and my face is the man in the cage. It’s really cool costume, and Gorilla is a super fun character to play. Nearly all of the characters are named for their costumes, and we’ve got so many amazing ones in this film! Ghosts, mimes, bunnies, snake charmers, vampires, cowgirls… They’re all so funny and hilarious, and the interactions with the Weedjies are so very clever and fun.

PopHorror: This is so right up my alley! How did you come to be a part of Halloweed Night: Meet the Weedjies?
Chad Ridgely: Danny Draven and I had worked together on Massacre on Aisle 12, and he reached out to me and said he had a funny part in this film that I might be right for. When I read the script, I laughed out loud so many times, and I fell in love with the character. They brought me in to audition, and we really had some fun with it. Charles Band, Danny Draven and the team were so amazing to work with. There’s such a storied history behind Full Moon and the many classic films they’ve made. I’m so grateful and honored to be part of it.
PopHorror: When can we see it? Soon, I hope.
Chad Ridgely: The film is scheduled to be released on Halloween in 2019.
Filming has already wrapped on Halloweed Night: Meet the Weedjies, and in a tantalizing twist, the entire process has been LIVE STREAMED for free at Deadly Ten’s website! The finished product was initially going to premiere on February 14, 2020 (what better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day?) on the Full Moon Amazon Prime Channel, but has been moved up to October 31, 2019. Happy Halloween!
I’ve got a few more pictures to show you below, including some EXCLUSIVE on the set pics. Check ’em out!
