Finally! The news I’ve been waiting for since the moment Creep 2 ended. We just found out that Creep 3 is tentatively slated to start shooting later this year! Patrick Brice’s Creep (2015 – read our review here) and Creep 2 (2017 – read our review here) have been smash hits in the horror genre, with the latter believed to be superior to the breakout original. Patrick Brice seems to have the bull by the horns on this one, and wants to keep the franchise barreling down this densely wooded and secluded highway.
According to Brice;
“[We] finally found an idea that we’re really excited about. One of the things we want to keep true with these movies is that they’re… still small scale. Keeping that focus tight. Letting it be something that sort of orbits around Mark’s character. We’ve found something we’re really excited about. We’re still in the process of writing. I can say that.
“It’s a chance for us to do something I haven’t really seen in horror movies, let alone found footage movies.
“[Mark Duplass and I] are at the point where, if all goes well, shooting this movie later this year. [We have to] find a pocket in our schedules where we can actually make this movie and do right by it.”
For those who still haven’t had the chance to see the first two installments, the Creep films are shot in found footage style, which in my opinion, is used to its best effectiveness with an extremely small cast. There is usually just 2 main characters, and Mark Duplass holds the majority of screen time as the audience watches him morph from one personality to his final reveal.
If any series demands a third installment, it’s the Creep franchise. As I said in my opener, I have been howling at the moon for a third film to complete the holy trinity of Creep, and I suspect many other horror hounds out there have been, too! It looks like we have been heard, and our next feast for the senses may not be too far out. I sure hope they bring back Peachfuzz!
