The 15th Annual Fantaspoa Film Festival is here, and this year’s edition is bigger and badder than ever. We’re talking about the largest genre film festival in Latin America. This year it runs from May 16 through June 2 in Porto Alegre, Brazil. The festival always has an amazing lineup. This year is no exception. Two of the more highly anticipated films from this year’s event are the Documentary Deodato Holocaust and the horror thriller True Fiction. We’re looking forward to reviewing both films in the very near future.
Until we get the chance, read on for more details about these badass titles!
Deodato Holocaust Synopsis
Some directors are demanding. Others are difficult. But only one was accused of killing his actors. Deodato Holocaust tells the story of the Italian filmmaker who unwittingly became a master of horror by making a movie so real, it was criminal. In examining the 30+ film career of Ruggero Deodato, this intimate, independent documentary seeks to better understand one of the world’s most controversial directors.
Felipe M. Guerra directed the film, which documents the amazing career of Ruggero Deodato. The film made its world premiere opening night, May 16, 2019.
True Fiction Synopsis
Avery Malone, a lonely wannabe writer, gets her big break when she’s hand-selected to assist her hero, reclusive author, Caleb Conrad. Whisked away to Caleb’s remote estate, Avery is given her one and only task: participate in a psychological experiment in fear that will serve as the basis for Caleb’s writing. Her stay soon turns dark when she finds herself the subject of Caleb’s all-too-real horror novel.
Braden Croft directed the film. It stars Sara Garcia, John Cassini, Julian Black Antelope, Julian Richings, and Catherine Gell. True Fiction makes its world premiere on Friday, May 24, 2019.
Very cool!
