While it’s common for Hollywood to reboot horror films and create expanded universes full of spin-offs, such as with The Conjuring series, The Nun and Annabelle, this is one angle less explored on the indie front. Payday Filmmaker Chase Dudley (read our interview here) has announced plans to take this road less traveled.

With his latest feature, Beasts of the Field (Amber Dawn Fox, Gregory Blair, Ashley Mary Nunes) in post-production, Dudley now sets his sights on rebooting past work, Past Due and Marvelous Mandy. Furthermore, these ambitious plans include an expanded cinematic universe linking the two features in his next film, entitled Overdue.
Though details on how his previous features will converge is being kept under wraps, Overdue will tell the tale of a disturbed librarian with a Norman Bates complex attempting to win the love of a girl through a killing spree. Casting and crew announcements will be coming soon as the production gears up to begin shooting next spring. Meanwhile, the official poster has been released, giving a glimpse into this dark, murderous story of love and death.
