Friday the 13th: Vengeance

Chain It! Drown It! Payback Arrives In The Upcoming ‘Friday The 13th: Vengeance’

With the future of the Friday The 13th franchise on hold, filmmakers are making movies dedicated to the beloved franchise, both as a tribute to the the ultimate Mama’s Boy and also to inspire others to make their own films. Director Jeremy Brown (Mythos: A Friday the 13th Fan Film) is one of those directors that is bringing his own franchise film in the form of Friday The 13th: Vengeance.

The Plot Of Friday the 13th: Vengeance

The upcoming film will be a direct follow up to the 1986 sequel Friday The 13th, Part VI: Jason Lives, and the plot is as followed.

It’s been 30 years since the murders happened at Crystal Lake. When Angelica Jarvis learns of her father’s disappearance among a new string of murders, she assembles a search party to find him. When the group discovers Jason’s father, Elias Voorhees, is back, what they uncover will change the town forever.

This will break new ground as we’ve never seen Jason and his father together, which could also show what their relationship was like in the past.

The Cast And Crew

Friday The 13th: Vengeance will feature the return of former Jason Voorhees, C.J. Graham, in the role of Jason’s father, Elias. This will mark his first appearance in a Friday The 13th film since portraying Jason in Friday The 13th Part VI: Jason Lives. The late Steve Dash, who portrayed Jason Voorhees in the 1981 sequel, will join Graham as Sheriff Realotti. The cast also includes Jason Brooks (Mythos: A Friday the 13th Fan Film) as Jason Voorhees, as well as newcomer Kelly Tappan, His Name Was Jason’s Ray Hopper and Julia Valenti, Peter Anthony (Steve Dash: Husband, Father, Grandfather – A Memorial Documentary 2019), Diana Prince (The Last Drive In With Joe-Bob Briggs TV series) 2017), Veronica Ricci (An Hour To Kill 2018 – read our review here), Sanae Loutsis (Beloved Beast 2018) and many more.

What makes Friday The 13th: Vengeance live up to the “more than a fan film” hype is that the filmmakers have managed to get professional resources on board to help out.  Friday The 13th Part VI director Tom McLoughlin is on board as film consultant. Joining McLoughlin is legendary film composer Harry Manfredini, who has composed many film scores, including the majority of the Friday The 13th franchise, and it’s 2017 video game, Friday The 13th: The Game. Having Dash, Graham, McLoughlin and Manfredini on board further shows how much of a love letter this film will be to fans, especially considering this is the first chance to hear Manfredini’s incredible music score for the first time since composing the 2002 standalone film, Jason X.

The Crew Equipment

Director Of Photography Dustin Montierth says:

“My hope is that the fans will appreciate the film and be entertained as we take them back to the classic world of Friday The 13th and tour Camp Crystal Lake again. This is truly made by a group of fans who made a movie that we would want to see ourselves.”

The camera that the crew will be using to shoot Friday The 13th: Vengeance is none other than the Arri Alexa LF, so get ready for this the upcoming film to be in astonishing, 4K, high-definition quality. Other equipment used are the Alexa Mini, Alexa Classic, RED Dragon/Helium, Blackmagic Pocket 4K and GoPro cameras for specific shots. This impressive list of tools shows how far Jeremy Brown and his crew want to go to deliver fans a definitive Friday The 13th film in a high visual scale. In terms of the blood and gore, it’s been confirmed that the crew will be using full practical effects for the kills.

Overall, Friday The 13th: Vengeance is looking to be a real treat for fans of the series. What makes it exciting is that the film has two former Jason actors of on board, which is something fans have always dreamed of seeing. Being a sequel to Friday The 13th, Part VI: Jason Lives, we are all more excited, as the sixth installment is hailed by many as the best sequel of the series.
