We’ve got breaking news for fans of campy monster movies: Actor Michael Gross just announced via Twitter that a new chapter in the Tremors franchise is currently in the works!
“IT IS HAPPENING!! Tremors and Graboid fans, there WILL be a number 6!!! Universal Studios Entertainment announced to me today that this will happen. Can’t divulge to [sic] many secrets but to say that Burt Gummer, Jamie Kennedy, and director Don Michael Paul will return for another. #TremorsFilms #Graboids #Horror #Monsters #SciFi”
Gross stared in all 5 previous Tremors films (and even the short-lived TV series from 2003). No word yet on when Tremors 6 will go before cameras, or whether iconic horror actor Kevin Bacon will return to reprise the role of Valentine McKee who hasn’t been seen since the first installment (released in 1990).
The Tremors franchise incorporates western and comedic elements; it centers around a remote desert town populated by eccentrics, and plagued by huge worm-like monsters underground.
We’ll keep you posted as details emerge.
