Award-Winning Horror Short ‘Boo’ To Officially Premiere on ALTER!

The award-winning short horror film Boo (read our review – HERE) will be having its official online premiere on October 19, 2020, on ALTER (watchalter.com). ALTER produces and releases feature movies, series, and short-form stories from the most provocative and innovative minds in horror reaching fans across all platforms.

As a follow up to Jax in Love (read our review – HERE), Boo is Rakefet Abergel’s (read our interview with her – HERE) second film as writer and producer. It is her directorial debut. Rakefet also stars in the film alongside series regulars from NBC’s Midnight, Texas, Josh Kelly and Parisa Fitz-Henley, and Showtime’s Shameless, Laura Slade Wiggins. Also Michael Villar from the Oscar-winning Live Action Short film, Skin.

Synopsis for Boo

Over the course of one rough night, Devi, seven years sober, must make a difficult choice between who she loves and what she loves.

“I’m really proud that Boo will be featured on ALTER, which is arguably one of the best distributors a short horror film can have,” said Abergel, who also wrote, directed, and produced the film. “I’m excited it’s finally going to be available for online viewers and I’m looking forward to hearing feedback from fans all over the world!”

As previously mentioned, Boois the second film from Abergel’s production company, Cyclamen Films. Her first film, Jax in Love, is currently streaming on Amazon Prime and Vimeo On-Demand and playing on ShortsTV. Boo was an official selection at over 60 film festivals, received 75 nominations, and took home 44 awards to date including Best Director at GenreBlast Film Festival, Best Writing in a Short at Nightmares Film Festival, the Minerva Award for Best Female Filmmaker at Filmquest, and Best Actress at Unrestricted View Horror Film Festival in the U.K.

The film will be available on ALTER beginning October 19th as a kick-off to their Halloween programming. The trailer is available on YouTube or their website MeetMyBoo.com. More platforms to be announced soon. Abergel will be doing a live Q&A on the Boo Facebook page with some of the cast and crew the week of the premiere. Check the page for updates!!!
