All Hallows Bazaar: Cryptkins Series 1 Unboxing

Happy spooky Halloween season, everyone! I have been waiting for this all year long. I have had my Halloween decorations up since July, I have switched out to my fall wardrobe—so what if it’s still 80 outside?—and it’s spooky shows all the time. Not only that, but this is a great time of year to get some spooky and creepy collectibles like cryptids. I love cryptids! Everything from Bigfoot to the Nightcrawlers and ESPECIALLY the Mothman are in my wheelhouse.

There’s a company that will get you every cryptid you’ll ever need. Cryptozoic Entertainment has created some adorable little collectibles called Cryptkins, and we’re unboxing a whole box of series 1!

We want to send the biggest of thank yous to Cryptozoic Entertainment for sending these babies to us to unbox and share. These are blind boxes, so you don’t know what you are getting until you open the box. Each little Cryptkin has its own display card included, and their boxes look like crates! There are 10 commons to collect, plus 2 rare and 1 ultra rare. Let’s go over what we got!

Each of the monster babies come in a little crate box like this one with a blind bag inside. Because people tend to feel around to try and find the one they want, it’s pretty impossible to do with this design, so it’s a true surprise! There are 12 boxes in a case, so there’s no way to get the full set, and there is also the possibility of duplicates.

JUST LOOK AT THOSE FACES!!! Have you seen anything cuter than those dirty little toes? This is Bigfoot and the Yeti Cryptkins. Both are made of the same mold with just different paint schemes, but I don’t really mind that. These are both commons with both of these guys appearing in pretty much every case of 12.

This here is the Jersey Devil. I will be honest… I thought this was the Chupacabra at first, because it has a very doglike appearance. As a Jersey Devil figure, this one isn’t my favorite, but as just a collectible, I think it’s pretty adorable!

Now, THESE are my babies. My most favorite cryptid is Mothman, and I was very excited when I saw that there were two versions of Mothman in series 1 of Cryptkins. We got both! The black figurine is the more traditional Mothman figure, but the white one is the Twilight Mothman. While Twilight Mothman has the most adorable antennae, I like the standard version better. I do appreciate that they weren’t from the exact same mold!

I had NO idea that this was the Chupacabra Cryptkin. Apparently, I missed the memo that the cryptid was green, because I guessed everything else before I saw the card. If this was a little dragon or something similar, I would like it a little better. It didn’t help that we got two of these in the crate, meaning that there was no hope in getting a full common set. He’s still wicked cute, though.

Holy mother of Cryptkins, we got a rare! This is a 1/36, so it isn’t the rarest, but it is still hard to get. I thought that this was a Thunderbird with a special paint job, and that’s BASICALLY what it is, but it is actually a Phoenix. I love the color scheme and almost translucence of this little guy. He is really cute and this one was a win, for sure.

Here is my second favorite figure that I opened. I love this little Nightcrawler so much. Nightcrawlers are just basically legs with a head, and this is the perfect design. I love his big eyes and his little toes. If this is supposed to be glow-in-the-dark, I couldn’t get it to work, but I wish it would, because that would be the perfect little detail.

I am a big fan of the world created by H.P. Lovecraft, so I adore this wee little Cthulhu Cryptkin. I can’t decide what I like more: its little toes, those tiny tentacles, or its head. This is definitely a favorite of all of the figures that I unboxed. My only sadness about Cthulhu is that I would have LOVED the Cosmic Cthulhu, but that is a 1/72 and extremely difficult to get. Cthulhu is another figure in which I got two.

I am so happy that I got a Nessie! This is my husband’s very favorite cryptid, and I am so happy that Cryptkins included Nessie in Series 1. There is another variation in this mold but colored purple that one represents Ogopogo, but I am Team Nessie all the way. The only issue with this little guy is that the fins tend to pop off, but a little glue can fix that problem in a jiffy.

That is all for the Crypkins Series 1 crate. I really had a lot of fun opening these guys, and I am so impressed with how they look. As a fan of cryptids, it was a lot of fun seeing my favorites as cute little collectibles that I can smile at on my shelf. If you would like to shop Series 1, Series 2, Unleashed, or any of their enamel pins, you can find them HERE. Even those these Cryptkins were sent to me, I was not paid for this review, and all opinions are my own.
